Syria envoy visits refugee camp in Turkey September 18, 2012 - 15:24 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - The new international envoy tasked with ending the 18-month Syrian conflict has visited a refugee camp in Turkey, according to The Associated Press. Lakhdar Brahimi, who recently ended a four-day visit to Syria, toured a camp in the border province of Hatay on Tuesday, Sept 18, as dozens of Syrians staged a demonstration outside the camp denouncing Syrian President Bashar Assad. Turkey, which has taken in more than 80,000 refugees, serves as headquarters for the leaders of the Free Syrian Army group and hosts members of the Syrian National Council opposition group. It is not clear if Brahimi, who replaced Kofi Annan as the joint United Nations and Arab League envoy, met any opposition members in Hatay. Brahimi said Saturday he still has no plan for stopping the bloodshed.
