Raffi Hovannisian issues message to President on threshold of elections![]() September 24, 2012 - 17:12 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - On September 24, the leader of Heritage opposition party, ex-foreign minister Raffi Hovannisian addressed a letter to Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan, dwelling on the upcoming presidential polls, current challenges and ways to overcome them. The politician suggested fulfilling several conditions to achieve democratic elections in Armenia, stressing departicization of educational system, non-use of state budget for parties’ needs, adequate coordination of law enforcement agencies’ activities, struggle against pre-electoral pressure and politicization of the Church, adoption of a proportional electoral system, persecution of those guilty in electoral violations among crucial points. ![]() ![]() Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took to social media to thank his Lithuanian counterpart for the contribution.
