Official confident for Oskanian case to become PACE focus

PanARMENIAN.Net - Head of the Armenian delegation to Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) Davit Harutyunyan commented on the statement by Prosperous Armenia parliamentary group members Naira Zohrabyan and Vahe Hovhannisyan, who expressed readiness to give up their PACE seats for former foreign minister Vartan Oskanian, if necessary.

As Mr. Harutyunyan noted, each political force is free to choose its representatives for the Armenian delegation to PACE.

Asked about PACE’s preliminary standpoint on Oskanian case, he answered, “no preliminary standpoint has been issued. However, I’m confident that PACE will focus on the current process.”

On October 2, Armenian National Assembly resolved to strip Prosperous Armenia member, former Foreign Minister Oskanian of deputy immunity with 64 votes for, 6 against and 1 invalid, following two-day discussions over Civilitas Foundation fund misuse charges.
