Armenian Ombudsman says Oskanian case politically motivated – paper![]() October 11, 2012 - 11:32 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - According to 168 Zham daily, Armenian Ombudsman has characterized the ongoing process against Prosperous Armenia member, former Foreign Minister Vartan Oskanian as political motivated. “It isn’t simply a legal process,” Karen Andreasyan said. “Though stripping a member of parliament of his/her deputy immunity is considered a part of the legal procedure, it is always politically motivated. The MPs are free to express their stance on the prosecutor's charges. If the case is under investigation or trial, an MP is authorized to somehow voice his standpoint on the issue, while the human rights defender is not entitled to intervene,” the paper quoted the Ombudsman as saying. ![]() ![]() Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire.
