Artsakh President, AGBU head discuss program implementation![]() October 15, 2012 - 11:40 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Nagorno Karabakh (Artsakh) Republic President Bako Sahakyan met Monday, Oct 15 with president of the Armenian General Benevolent Union Berge Setrakian as well as director of the AGBU Armenian Representation Ashot Ghazaryan to discussed implementation of various programs in Artsakh. The meeting then continued with the participation of nearly a hundred of AGBU representatives, with President Sahakyan introducing the current stage and prospects of Artsakh’s socioeconomic development as well as some foreign policy issues. The President appreciated the AGBU’s invaluable role in maintaining Armenian national identity in the Diaspora, international recognition and condemnation of the Genocide, objective presentation of the Artsakh issue worldwide. He also emphasized that Artsakh is interested in expanding cooperation with the organization. At the end of the meeting the President responded to the attendees’ questions. Primate of the Artsakh Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church Archbishop Pargev Martirosyan and other officials also attended the gathering, reported the Central Information Department at the Artsakh President’s Office. The foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan, Ararat Mirzoyan and Jeyhun Bayramov, have arrived in Washington. The CSTO budget for the current year requires adjustments due to the refusal of Yerevan to pay their share of contributions. Six total incidents have burned 19 old-growth trees.
