Author Shahkeh Setian to discuss her book on Genocide at ALMA![]() October 16, 2012 - 12:02 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - On Sunday, October 21, author Shahkeh Setian will discuss her book, "Humanity in the Midst of Inhumanity" in the Armenian Library and Museum of America as part of her New England book tour. Her book examines the 1915 Armenian Genocide with special emphasis on Turkish Muslims who saved Armenian lives at the risk of their own and those of their families, as the Ottoman government threatened any Muslim who protected Armenians. Included in her book are sixteen stories that were submitted by descendants of Armenians saved by Turks, as told by the survivors themselves. Dr. Setian earned a Doctorate in Education from UMASS Amherst. She taught at Springfield College, Artsakh University, and designed and taught a class at Cape Cod Community College entitled, "The History of Genocide: Using the Armenian Genocide as a Case Study". The daughter of Genocide survivors, Dr. Setian lived for a year in post-war Artsakh as an independent volunteer. She lives on Cape Cod, Massachusetts - mother of three, grandmother to five. The foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan, Ararat Mirzoyan and Jeyhun Bayramov, have arrived in Washington.
