Eurozone inflation lower than expected in Sept![]() October 16, 2012 - 14:18 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Inflation in the 17-country eurozone was lower than previously expected in September. According to The Associated Press, Eurostat, the EU's statistics office, said Tuesday, Oct 16, that prices were 2.6 percent higher in September than the year before, down from its previous estimate of 2.7 percent. That means that inflation was unchanged from the August rate. Still, inflation continues to run higher than the European Central Bank's target of "close to, but below" 2 percent. Partly because inflation remains above-target, few analysts think the ECB will cut its main interest rate from the current record low of 0.75 percent at its next policy meeting in early November. Yerevan has dismissed Turkey’s demand to shut down the Armenian nuclear power plant as “inappropriate”. Armenia will loan 2.9 billion drams to Nagorno Karabakh (Artsakh), according to a draft government decision. The Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan has “strongly condemned” Armenia’s decision. Kerobyan has said that for the first time in the history of Armenia, the volume of foreign direct investments amounted to about $1 billion. Partner news |
