Armenia, Italy sign agreement on defense cooperation![]() October 17, 2012 - 22:07 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Today, October 17, Armenian Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan and his Italian counterpart Giampaolo di Paola signed an intergovernmental agreement on defense cooperation. Following the agreement signing ceremony, Minister Ohanyan called attention to cooperation in military education, in the framework of which Armenian soldiers may undergo training in Italian academies. The agreement also envisages cooperation in military justice, defense and security, peacekeeping and humanitarian fields, as well as military medicine and defense industry. Minister Ohanyan further stressed the importance of the Italian official’s visit to Yerevan, voicing hope for further deepening of defense cooperation. Italian minister, in turn, noted that Italy cooperates with all the countries of the South Caucasus to contribute to establishment of peace in the region. Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took to social media to thank his Lithuanian counterpart for the contribution. President of the Armenian parliament Alen Simonyan met with the Speaker of the Azerbaijani Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova. Partner news |
