ARMENIA EXTRADITES SUSPECT IN ARMS SMUGGLING PROBE TO US

PanARMENIAN.Net - The Armenian law-enforcement bodies have extradited Armen Barseghian suspected of involvement in an alleged attempt of weapons smuggling to the United States territory, reported the US Embassy in Armenia. Press Secretary of the US Office of Attorneys stated that Armen Barseghian will appear before a New York court this week along with 20 other defendants that have been indicted in connection with the case. The source noted, "this case highlights the cooperation on law enforcement issues, which is developing between the US and the Republic of Armenia." The US Embassy in Armenia specifically thanks Prosecutor General of Armenia Aghvan Hovsepian and National Security Service Gorik Hakobian for their assistance. "The professionalism of the Armenian authorities helps the US investigate the case much. Armenia and the US effectively cooperate for proliferation and in struggle against terror," the source noted.
