COMPROMISE ONLY WAY TO SOLVE KARABAKH CONFLICT

PanARMENIAN.Net - There is no genuine solution to the Nagorno Karabakh conflict, besides compromise, Secretary of the National Security Council at the President of Armenia, Defense Minister Serge Sargsian stated in the course of a press conference today. In his words, he has many times expressed his opinion, which reflects today's reality. «I was and I am convinced that it is the true solution,» he noted. At that the Minister noted that he is not ready to bigger compromises than the situation demands. When commenting on Azerbaijan militant statements, he said these couldn't lead to a war yet, however as the Defense Minister he should be ready if hostilities started in three days, Serge Sargsian noted. Speaking of the statements, according to which some people take compromise as a defeat in a psychological war, Serge Sargsian noted that today many people in the republic play a performance, in which the starring roles are distributed between the customers and performers. «I have no problems with performers, among whom there are journalists, who were not too successful, and former officials, who did not do well in their field,» he noted. «As of the performers, - the Minister continued, - they mainly disinform the population and distort what I say.» «We do not want a war, as we did not in 1992, however we were forced at the time to resort to that step, and Armenia passed it with dignity,» he emphasized. In his words, if Armenia is forced to a war today, it will get out of it with dignity. As noted by the Minister, today there are people in Azerbaijan, who do not wish the repetition of the year 1988. In his words, compromises imply security guarantees for Karabakh, which cannot be part of Azerbaijan, neither can it have a status of an enclave. He also said there is no pressure by the international community and even if it were available, it would be equally exerted over Azerbaijan.
