"Asad," "Head Over Heels" shorts win top spots at Austin Film Fest

PanARMENIAN.Net - Writer-director Bryan Buckley's "Asad" was named best narrative short and Timothy Reckart's "Head Over Heels" was chosen top animated short by the Austin Film Festival, which announced its winners Sunday, October 21, TheWrap said.

Winners were selected from a record number of entries this year by a panel of industry jurors.

Winners received cash prizes up to $1,000, reimbursements for travel and lodging while at the festival and access to and recognition by some of the most important writers, agents, producers and filmmakers in the industry.

The festival is recognized by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, and the winning film in the Animated Short and Narrative Short categories are eligible to be nominated for an Academy Award.
