Deputy Prosecutor General dismissed over police officer’s battery - paper![]() October 31, 2012 - 15:32 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - According to Zhoghovurd daily, the Deputy Prosecutor General of Armenia’s Aragatsotn province Armen Melkonyan has recently been dismissed over a battery of a road police officer. As the paper said, Melkonyan had slapped the road police officer who stopped his car. Further Melkonyan “invited” the policeman to his office, where the latter was severely beaten. As a spokesperson at Prosecutor General's Office Sona Truzyan told the daily, “Armen Melkonyan was dismissed on August 22, 2012 over misconduct.” No further details were provided, the daily said. ![]() ![]() As a result of floods in Armenia’s northern Lori and Tavush provinces, 17 bridges, including five large ones, have collapsed.
