NATO TO OBSERVE DEFENSE REFORMS IN SOUTH CAUCASUS

PanARMENIAN.Net - NATO representatives in the South Caucasian states will observe the implementation of the reforms and the tasks in the defense field, as well as provide advising for increasing the efficiency of the work, stated Robert Simmons, the NATO Secretary-General's representative to the South Caucasian and Central Asian states, the Yerkir newspaper reported. In his words, «conferences, seminars and trainings are planned to be held to exchange information and experience in defense sector reform.» The plan is worked out to assist interested partners in reforms of the national defense departments in compliance with their needs and international commitments. Touching upon Georgia, the NATO Secretary General's representative said the defense reforms there «started successfully, however many problems are still to be solved.»
