Held on November 1 at the Skirball Cultural Center in L.A., the event also delivered its prizes to some 2011 movies which have received critical acclaims and even Oscar nominations, AceShowbiz said. While "Avengers" won the Outstanding Compositing gong, "The Iron Lady" grabbed the Outstanding Color Grading prize. "Hugo" and "The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn", meanwhile, received the Outstanding Editing and Outstanding Sound awards respectively. Not only that, but the awards show also awarded some hit TV series including "Game of Thrones", which claimed the Outstanding Color Grading trophy. Other TV winners were "Downton Abbey", "Grimm" as well as "NCIS: Naval Criminal Investigative Service". The HPA also honored Ray Dolby, the inventor of the noise reduction system Dolby NR. He received a Charles S. Swartz award thanks to his contribution to sound recording and image technology. The prestigious prize was presented by sound designer Walter Murch. The Hollywood Post Alliance Awards was held to recognize outstanding contributions in post-production of feature films, TV series and commercials.
