“The Paperboy” star John Cusack to join Stephen King's “Cell”

PanARMENIAN.Net - John Cusack is attached to star in the movie adaptation of Stephen King's novel Cell, Digital Spy said.

The Paperboy actor will take on the lead role of Clayton Riddell, an American artist attempting to reunite with his son following an apocalyptic event.

Cell's plot sees the majority of the world's population turned into mindless, vicious animals by a mysterious signal transmitted over mobile phones.

The Last House On The Left scribe Adam Alleca co-wrote the screenplay with King, and Cargo Entertainment are on board to produce the project, reports Screen Daily.

Cusack previously starred in another King adaptation, 1408, alongside Samuel L Jackson. The movie is considered one of the better films inspired by the author's work.

A director for Cell is expected to be appointed soon.
