Several earthquakes strike northwestern Iran

PanARMENIAN.Net - Several tremors jolted parts of northwestern Iran on Wednesday, Nov 7, almost three months after a couple of devastating earthquakes ruined several towns and villages in the region, Fars news agency reported.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, a magnitude 5.5 quake was centered 32 miles north-northeast of Tabriz, at a depth of 6.2 miles.

The main quake was followed by at least 12 aftershocks ranging from 2.4 to 5.1 on the Richter scale

About three months ago, two quakes in northwestern Iran claimed the lives of 306 people and injured more than 4500 others.
