Syria-bound Armenian plane continues journey to Aleppo

PanARMENIAN.Net - Syria-bound Armenian airplane, that earlier landed in the eastern Turkish city of Erzurum, has already taken off for Aleppo after a cargo search.

According to Turkish media outlets, the aircraft was carrying humanitarian aid for Syria’s Armenian community. Turkish security group instructed to search the plane discovered no banned items.

The aircraft has been reported to be carrying 13 tons of humanitarian aid, comprising 12-15 kg boxes with foodstuff.

The cargo plane was searched in Erzurum in a previously agreed step, as in mid-October when another Armenian plane was allowed to continue its journey after confirmation it was carrying humanitarian aid as stated.

Turkey has become increasingly assertive in challenging Syrian President Bashar al-Assad amid growing tensions along the border. It banned Syrian aircraft from its airspace in October after saying it found Russian munitions believed to be destined for Syria's armed forces on board a Syrian plane.
