MADELEINE ALBRIGHT: TURKEY SHOULD ACKNOWLEDGE ARMENIAN GENOCIDE

PanARMENIAN.Net - Being asked in the course of a forum organized by Washington Brookings Institute and Istanbul Sabanci University the question whether Turkey should acknowledge the Armenian Genocide, former US State Secretary Madeleine Albright answered, "I suppose there will be no harm of it. Large nations can apologize." According to the Zaman Turkish newspaper, citing the instance of Germany, Madeleine Albright noted that the Armenian issue is "extremely sensitive" in spite of the fact that "Armenians and Turks approach that tangled historical problem in different ways." «By doing it Turkey can become the leading country in the region,» she stated.
