Expert: U.S. will try to revive Armenian-Turkish relations![]() November 12, 2012 - 19:09 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Director of the Oriental Studies Institute at the Armenian National Academy of Sciences Ruben Safrastyan has expressed disagreement with the standpoint claiming the U.S. elections won’t affect the country’s position on the region. According to him, the U.S. policy in the region will be conditioned by regional developments. “U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s visits to the region prove the great importance attached during Obama’s first term,” the expert said, forecasting a replacement of the U.S. Secretary of State. “Syria and Iran will be in the focus of the U.S. attention during Obama’s second term,” he said, adding that Turkey will use its increasing role to exert pressure in Armenian Genocide recognition camping. “The U.S. will also try to revive Armenian-Turkish relations, the latter depending on the new Secretary of State’s policy,” Mr. Safrastyan said. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire.
