Vodafone unveils Smart Tab 2 Android tabletNovember 17, 2012 - 14:33 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Vodafone has Friday, November 16 launched a new Lenovo-made 7-inch Android tablet that will compete with rival devices from Google, Apple and Amazon, Digital Spy said. The Vodafone Smart Tab 2 is 192mm tall, 122mm wide and 11.5mm thick. It weighs 400 grams. The 7-inch WSVGA display has a rather meagre pixel resolution of 1024 x 600. Powered by Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich), rather than the latest Jelly Bean version, the slate has a 1GHz processor under the hood. It comes with rear (2MP) and front-facing (0.3MP) cameras, along with 4GB of user memory, upgradeable to 32GB via an SD Card slot. Users can enjoy WiFi and cellular 3G connectivity, as well as access more than 700,000 apps and services from the Google Play Store. The Vodafone Smart Tab 2 faces lots of competition in the 7-inch screen tablet market, with Google's Nexus 7 and Amazon's Kindle Fire HD already well established. Apple also entered the space this month with the iPad Mini, featuring a 7.9-inch screen and access to around 275,000 apps made just for the tablet. Vodafone has also launched a larger Smart Tab 2, featuring a 10-inch WXGA (1280x800) display, dual core 1.5GHz processor, 5MP rear camera, 16GB memory and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. An optional keyboard dock transforms the Smart Tab 2 10 into a laptop, offering additional USB and HDMI ports, an SD memory card slot and an extra battery.
