Pre-election period unfit for parliamentary govt. debate – RPA rep.

PanARMENIAN.Net - Debates over a change to a parliamentary government would have been in order a year ago, rather than on the threshold of presidential elections, a member of ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) said.

“Opposition’s attempts to show unity on certain issues look unpersuasive, seeing as the latter doesn't even have a road map,” Hovhannes Sahakyan told a November 22 news conference.

Sahakyan further dismissed the idea of consultations between Armenia's political forces as unserious, in view of lacking clear agenda or a basis of written documents.

“A crucial issue like a change to parliamentary government should not be discussed in a hurry,” the politician stressed.
