“Hit the Road Jack,” “I Feel Good” enter Grammy Hall of Fame

PanARMENIAN.Net - On the Grammy Hall of Fame’s 40th anniversary, the Recording Academy is honoring Whitney Houston, Elton John, AC/DC and more, The Hollywood Reporter said.

In total, 27 recordings will be added to the collection this year. Among them are Ray Charles’ “Hit the Road Jack,” James Brown’s “I Feel Good,” Billy Joel’s “Piano Man,” Frank Sinatra’s theme from “New York, New York” and Bob Dylan’s “The Times They Are A-Changin’.” Also being inducted is AC/DC’s classic 1980 album Back in Black, Paul McCartney & the Wings’ Band on the Run from 1974 as well as self-titled albums from Elton John (1970) and Whitney Houston (1985).

"With the Grammy Hall of Fame celebrating 40 years, it's especially important to note that these entries continue the tradition of inducting a wide variety of recordings that have inspired and influenced both fans and music makers for generations," said Neil Portnow, president and CEO of the Recording Academy. "Memorable for being both culturally and historically significant, we are proud to add them to our growing catalog of outstanding recordings that have become part of our musical, social and cultural history."

The growing collection on display at the Grammy Museum at L.A. Live now includes a total of 933 recordings. Albums and singles chosen must be at least 25 years old and exhibit qualitative or historical significance.
