Traffic jam at Upper Lars checkpoint over shift to winter schedule

PanARMENIAN.Net - A traffic jam is reported at Upper Lars checkpoint over a shift to winter schedule, allowing to cross the border from 7 am to 6pm only.

A major line of trucks has been formed at the site, with truck drivers left without a chance to procure food or water.

Over a hundred trucks from Armenia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan are waiting to cross the Russian-Georgian border.

According to checkpoint employees, a shift to round-the-clock service would solve the situation best. The issue is being considered at Russia’s Federal Customs Service and Border Administration. Changes in the checkpoint operation are expected next year, with no specific date provided.
