Baku accuses OSCE MG of lack of fundamentality

PanARMENIAN.Net - Baku has this time accused OSCE Minsk Group of lack of fundamentality, with Azerbaijani deputy foreign minister earlier slamming the mediators’ position on the opening of Stepanakert airport as “shameful”.

“They must understand that if Armenia takes the step, this will cause a great crisis. Azerbaijan will never forgive this illegal act nor keep silence,” Azerbaijan Press Agency (APA) quoted Araz Azimov as saying.

Meanwhile, Baku goes unpunished for continuously undermining the Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement, showing disregard for Minsk Group’s calls for observance of ceasefire regime, removal of snipers from the line of contact, development of mechanisms for investigation of contact line incidents. Baku continues storage of arms, threatening Armenia and Nagorno Karabakh with war, whilst violating international norms and principles. This time, adequate reaction to the operation of Stepanakert airport stirred up Azeri resentment, with Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan earlier characterizing the airport as a “vital corridor for Artsakh people.”

In this respect, only irrelevant response to Baku’s boorish statements may perhaps be cited as the only manifestation for Minsk Group’s lack of fundamentality, with possible approval of Armenia’s proposal to impose sanctions against any country that will attempt to solve Karabakh problem by force likely to stir up further Azerbaijani concerns.

“The international community must express clear stance on the issue in an international document, with the latter urging for sanctions against any country that will attempt to solve Karabakh problem by force,” Prime Minister Sargsyan earlier said at a meeting with foreign ministers of Poland, Sweden and Bulgaria.

Perhaps the move will finally force Baku to get serious about Karabakh issue.
