Along with Armenian grandmasters Levon Aronian and Vladimir Akopian, the following players also qualified for participation: World Champion and World Cup 2011 semi-finalists Viswanathan Anand (IND), Paul Svidler (RUS), Alexander Grischuk (RUS), Vassily Ivanchuk (UKR), and Ruslan Ponomariov (UKR).
