CEC meets presidential hopeful’s request to leave race![]() January 14, 2013 - 16:52 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Central Election Commission (CEC) of Armenia held a special meeting on Jan 14, with citizen Robert Aharonyan’s application to withdraw candidacy discussed. As the Commission head Tigran Mukuchyan noted, CEC had resolved to comply with his request and return his documents. Mr. Aharonyan voiced hope that the CEC won’t impose any sum for voter registration during the next elections. Mr. Mukuchyan, in turn, said the CEC is not authorized to make amendments to the constitution. Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took to social media to thank his Lithuanian counterpart for the contribution.
