Georgia reluctant to announce Chakhalyan political prisoner - brother![]() January 15, 2013 - 19:49 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - The leader of United Javakhk Democratic Alliance will probably not be included in a new list of political prisoners to be released under Georgia-signed amnesty law, Vahagn Chakhalyan’s brother said. As Armen Chakhalyan told PanARMENIAN.Net the activist is unwilling to be released under amnesty law, as he doesn’t accept the charges against him. “Georgian authorities, in turn, are reluctant to announce Chakhalayan a political prisoner, doing their best to prevent it from happening,” Armen Chakhalyan said. As he noted, the new law stipulates for release of 3000 inmates, beside political prisoners, which might mean Chakhalyan will be set free as well. In conclusion he reminded that Chakhalyan’s case has been submitted to European Court of Huna Rights, with the study of the case to be continued. ![]() ![]() Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire.
