Armenian presidential candidate to go on hunger strike![]() January 18, 2013 - 19:14 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - The Central Election Committee (CEC) of Armenia rejected the statement of presidential hopefulAndrias Ghukasyan, demanding for the candidate of the ruling party Serzh Sargsayn to be disallowed to run for president. CEC head noted that the administrative bodies are authorized to fulfill all of the functions, listed in RA Constitution. “The statements is unfounded and may set a precedent,” Tigran Mukuchyan said. The CEC meeting was followed by a press briefing, with Mr Ghukasyan announcing a decision to go on a hunger strike for an indefinite term on Jan 21. Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took to social media to thank his Lithuanian counterpart for the contribution.
