Expert: Baku unable to foil Georgian PM’s visit to Yerevan

PanARMENIAN.Net - Tbilisi’s rapid reaction foiled Baku’s attempts to cause problems ahead of Georgian Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili’s visit to Yerevan through distorting the statements by the country’s spiritual leader and foreign minister, expert on Georgian affairs said.

“A shift in Georgian policy has occurred. The new government adheres to complementary policies,” Johnny Melikyan told a press conference.

The expert further dwelt on Azerbaijani-Georgian unresolved territorial problems given the issue of the monetary complex David Gareja, raised last year.

“80% of the complex is located in Azerbaijan’s territory, 20% - in Georgia. Azerbaijani border guards banned the Georgian clergymen from crossing the border and entering the monastery,” the expert said, adding that attempts to solve the issue were doomed to failure.
