Armenia’s Cossacks to back incumbent president![]() January 19, 2013 - 19:45 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - International Armenian-Cossack Union of Friendship and Cooperation announced a decision on Jan 19 to back the current leader Serzh Sargsyan at the upcoming presidential elections. “The Union resolved to endorse the incumbent president, considering the need for an experienced leader for withdrawing the current challenges,” Cossack Lieutenant General Sargis Aghabekyan told a press conference, noting Armenia’s chance for peaceful development as an economic growth guarantee. He further voiced readiness to ensure protection of Armenian’s borders, urging the Union members to have active involvement in the upcoming polls. ![]() ![]() Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took to social media to thank his Lithuanian counterpart for the contribution.
