HARUTYUNIAN CHARGED OF TERRORISM

PanARMENIAN.Net - 27-year old Vladimir Harutyunian, resident of Tbilisi, who is suspected of making an attempt upon the lives of George Bush and Mikhail Saakashvili was charged of terrorism on July 26, Harutyunian's defender Guliko Jimsheladze told journalists today. In her words, Harutyunian has broken the right of silence and partly pleaded guilty confessing of illegal keeping of weapons. July 23 the court sentenced Harutyunian to 3-months of preliminary imprisonment. Earlier he was accused of illegal purchasing, keeping, assembling, transporting and selling firearms as well as of premeditated murder with aggravation (to remind, he fired a grenade at George Bush, who was delivering a speech at the Liberty Square in Tbilisi May 10). July 20 he showed resistance in the course of arrest and shot head of the department of struggle against international terrorism, 37-year-old captain Zurab Kvlividze. Harutyunian can be sentenced to life imprisonment.
