"Thor" helmer to direct Cate Blanchett in Disney’s “Cinderella”?February 1, 2013 - 10:27 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Walt Disney Pictures' new take on classic tale "Cinderella" might be close to find its director. Vulture shares the words that Kenneth Branagh is currently in talks to tackle the helming duty of the world's famous fairytale about the glass shoes-clad princess, AceShowbiz said. The "Thor" helmer is expected to replace director Mark Romanek, who recently bowed out of the project. Should the Irish filmmaker seal the deal, he is required to shoot the movie in London this fall. The new "Cinderella" movie still hasn't found an actress to play the titular princess. It, however, has already found its wicked stepmother Lady Tremaine in veteran actress Cate Blanchett. Written by Chris Weitz, the film is expected to hit theaters sometime in 2014, exactly 100 years after Mary Pickford portrayed the famous beauty in the first ever Hollywood adaptation of the tale which is also known as The Little Glass Slipper. The classic version of "Cinderella" was made by Disney in 1950, telling the story of an unfortunate girl dreaming of a prince. The story had been adapted in a number of feature films such as "Ever After" and "A Cinderella Story". It is not yet known whether the new live-action version will bend from its original story or not.
