Boeing warns of possible Dreamliner delivery delays

PanARMENIAN.Net - Norwegian Air Shuttle says Boeing has warned it of possible delays in the deliveries of its first 787 Dreamliner aircraft scheduled for April and June, The Associated Press reports.

The Oslo-based budget airline's spokesman, Lasse Sandaker-Nielsen, said Thursday that delivery of the planes, scheduled to be operational in May and June, might not be possible. He gave no reason for the delays.

The announcement comes as more than 50 Boeing 787s have been grounded globally following last month's battery fire on a Japan Airlines Dreamliner.

Norwegian is one of Europe's fastest-growing airlines and had planned to begin its first long-haul flights in May and June to New York and Bangkok using the Boeing 787s.

With a fleet of 66 planes, Norwegian flies to 115 destinations. Some 16 million passengers flew on Norwegian in 2011.
