CEC to discuss candidate Harutyunyan’s application![]() February 8, 2013 - 19:34 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian presidential hopeful Aram Harutyunyan filed an application to the Central Election Commission (CEC), announcing a decision to withdraw candidacy. In conversation with a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter, CEC spokesman Hermine Harutyunyan said the CEC will discuss the candidate’s application at Feb 8 special meeting Mr Harutyunyan went on 1-day hunger strike on Feb 7, urging the rest of the candidates to withdraw candidacy, leaving the incumbent president Serzh Sargsyan alone in the race. Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took to social media to thank his Lithuanian counterpart for the contribution.
