Chrysler CEO in South Africa shot during robbery February 13, 2013 - 14:23 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Chrysler Group LLC says its CEO in South Africa was shot in the abdomen during a robbery in the country and is responding to medical treatment, The Associated Press reports. Chrysler spokesman Richard Sloman said Wednesday, Feb 13, that CEO Trent Barcroft was shot Saturday during a robbery outside of Johannesburg. Sloman said that Barcroft, a United States citizen, was still in intensive care at a hospital Wednesday but was responding well to treatment. A spokesman at the U.S. Embassy in South Africa said it was aware of the shooting, but had no comment. Violent crime remains a widespread worry in South Africa. A U.S. embassy employee was stabbed to death in January. Chrysler, based in Auburn Hills, Michigan, is majority owned by Italy's Fiat SpA.
