EU CALLS BANNING ARMENIAN ISSUE CONFERENCE IN TURKEY PROVOCATION

PanARMENIAN.Net - Spokesperson for the EU Commissioner for Enlargement Krisztina Nagy called «recurrent provocation» a Turkish court decision to suspend scientific conference on Armenian Genocide issues at Istanbul Bosphorus University. «The absence of legal ground and declaring the conference void literally a day before its opening looks like recurrent provocation,» Krisztina Nagy stated. Before that EU Enlargement Commissioner Olli Rehn called a Turkish court verdict to bring an action against famous writer Orhan Pamuk, who made a public statement over the annihilation of 1.5 million of Armenians in Ottoman Turkey. Today's Turkish newspapers write about statements of the Turkish PM and FM, who censure the Turkish court decision. The conference was to be held at the Bosphorus University in May this year, however, it was postponed by a decision of the Turkish Justice Minister.
