White House refuses to issue anti-Armenian statementsFebruary 26, 2013 - 13:06 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - The White House on Tuesday, Feb 26 issued an official response to Azerbaijan’s petition, posted on ‘We the People’ section. “While we will not be issuing a Presidential Proclamation, the United States deeply regrets the tragic losses of life in the war between Azerbaijan and Armenia. It reminds us that there cannot be a military solution to the Nagorno Karabakh conflict, and that only a lasting and peaceful settlement can bring stability, prosperity, and reconciliation to the region. As a Co-Chair of the Minsk Group, the United States remains firmly committed to working with all sides to achieve peace,” the response says. Azerbaijan earlier posted a petition on the White House website to draw the presidential administration’s attention to the Nagorno Karabakh issue. The petition had to collect 100 000 signatures by Feb 23 to be submitted to the U.S. Congress for discussion. Though it collected the necessary number of signatures, the White House refused to issue anti-Armenian statements on Agdam events of 1992, termed as “Khojaly” by the Azerbaijani side. Moreover, the official response didn’t dwell on “Khojaly” at all. Top stories Six total incidents have burned 19 old-growth trees. Friday night 8 trees were torched along the beautiful main entrance.
