CEC registers party lists for Yerevan City Council elections

PanARMENIAN.Net - The Central Election Commission of Armenia registered the candidates’ lists of 6 parties and one political bloc for May 5 Yerevan city council elections.

The ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) submitted a list of 195 candidates, with current Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan, founding president of RA chess academy, grandmaster Smbat Lputian and rector of Yerevan State University of Architecture and Construction Hovhannes Tokmajyan topping the list.

Prosperous Armenia submitted a list of 194 candidates, with former foreign minister Vartan Oskanian, United Labour Party Gurgen Arsenyan, ex-minister of healthcare Abraham Manukyan taking leading spots.

Armenian National Congress (ANC) filed a list of 41 candidates, with former mayor of Yerevan Vahagn Khachatryan, head of Peoples’ power initiative Zoya Tadevosyan and ANC spokesman Arman Musinyan in the list.

Orinats Yerkir party list includes 105 candidates, with minister of emergency situations Armen Yeritsyan, board member Hovhannes Shahinyan and poet Sofya Artenyan among them.

ARF Dashnaktsutyun submitted a list of 65 candidates, with the lists of Mission party and Barev Yerevan bloc of parties including 29 and 64 members respectively.

Yerevan city council elections are due May 5, with 464 polling stations to operate.
