Robert Zemeckis, "Django” star Jamie Foxx team with Syfy for new projectsApril 11, 2013 - 16:36 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - "Back to the Future" writer Robert Zemeckis and "Django Unchained" star Jamie Foxx are pairing up with cable network Syfy for separate projects -- one, a series about a mysterious gated community, and the other a horror anthology, TheWrap said. Zemeckis and Fox Television Studios are developing a supernatural series for the cable network called "No Place," Syfy president of original content Mark Stern announced. The drama follows residents of a high-tech gated community who awaken one morning to find themselves alone and cut off from the rest of reality. With nothing existing beyond the community’s walls, only one man has contact with the powers responsible for what is known as “The Rift,” and he must lead his fellow residents beyond the void to discover the truth. John Brancato and Michael Ferris, the writing team behind theatrical thrillers like "The Game" and "Terminator Salvation," are adapting the Top Cow comic book, "The Test," which the series is based on. Both Brancato and Ferris will also executive produce with Jake Rapke and Zemeckis, as well as comic book co-creator Matt Hawkins and Top Cow's Marc Silverstri. David Alpert ("Walking Dead") and Rick Jacobs will also executive produce. Jackie Levine will serve as a producer. Foxx, meanwhile, is partnering with Syfy for an as-yet-untitled horror anthology, which Foxx will write, direct and executive produce via his Foxxhole Productions. The half-hour, five episode series will be "in the vein of television classics like 'Tales from the Crypt' and 'The Twilight Zone,'" Syfy said, and hopes to deliver "creepy morality tales with themes such as envy, jealousy and superficiality." Foxx's series will debut in October, as part of the network's 31 Days of Halloween programming marathon. Foxx could also appear in the series.
