Apple orders French comics distributor to remove 1,500 titles from app![]() April 17, 2013 - 12:13 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Apple has ordered a comics distributor to remove 1,500 titles from its app. Izneo, which represents the ten largest French comic book publishers, has been told that a huge proportion of its 4,000 titles are unsuitable for the iOS app, Digital Spy reveals citing Bleeding Cool. The company was given 30 hours to remove all offending comics or face the complete removal of its app from the Apple Store. Izneo was reportedly not told which titles were problematic or why, so has removed everything "revealing a breast, causing cleavage, curve, or evoking a suggestive gesture". A total of 2,800 were initially removed before 1,300 of those were returned to the app. The app is restricted to users over 17 years of age. Apple has frequently been criticised for its perceived draconian and inconsistent censorship of third party content. The revelation follows last week's temporary banning of Brian K Vaughan's Saga #12 from the comiXology app. Apple was initially blamed before comiXology admitted that the decision had been theirs.
