Discussion on Russia Possible Accession to NATO Held in Moscow

PanARMENIAN.Net - «Discussions are held in Moscow on Russia's possible accession to the NATO,» stated NATO former SecGen George Robertson being in the Russian capital on a private visit. In Robertson's words, «Ukraine and Georgia will not be accepted in the NATO in the near future.» «Accession to the NATO is not a gift. It demands hard work and achievement of high standards,» he explained. «What happened in Tbilisi and Kiev resulted in serious consequences for the entire world. I met with new Presidents of those countries and it was clear to me they do not with to put up with what their countries put up with in the past. Many countries wish to have new relations with Russia on an equal basis - not as it was during the USSR. It is good for those countries, and I believe it is good to Russia,» the NATO former SecGen said. In his opinion, «very good relations are established between Russia and the NATO via NATO-Russia Council. Russia is winning a special position in relations with the NATO.» As of the Russian democracy, in Robertson's words, «the entire world witness how much progress Russia made on that way in a short period of time,» reported the Yerkir newspaper.
