Cannes Directors Fortnight to feature "Congress" Stanislaw Lem adaptation![]() April 20, 2013 - 14:27 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Ari Folman will open the Cannes Film Festival's Directors Fortnight section with his new film "The Congress", TheWrap said. Like Folman's 2008 film "Waltz with Bashir," "The Congress" is a hybrid of live action and animation. It centers on an aging actress who agrees to have her body digitized in order to support her disabled child. As part of the agreement she signs, the actress surrenders control of her likeness to the studio that buys the rights to her digital form. Derivative, it certainly is not. "The Congress" is an adaptation of Polish writer Stanislaw Lem's "The Futurological Congress." The film's impressive cast includes Robin Wright, Harvey Keitel, Paul Giamatti and Danny Huston. The Directors' Fortnight will run from May 16 to May 26. Cannes will announce the section's full lineup next week. Ara Aivazian said Azerbaijan continues the traditions of Turkey after seizing territories and forced Armenians out. The creative crew of the Public TV had chosen 13-year-old Malena as a participant of this year's contest. She called on others to also suspend their accounts over the companies’ failure to tackle hate speech. Penderecki was known for his film scores, including for William Friedkin’s “The Exorcist”, Stanley Kubrick’s “The Shining”. Partner news |
