Minister says gas price rise unlinked to elections

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenia is offered the lowest gas prices in the region, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources said.

Armen Movsisyan expressed disagreement with the viewpoint linking the hike in gas prices to government’s policy.

“Gas price rise is unlinked to the elections. This is not the final price, Armenia will face the same problem again in several years,” Minister Movsisyan told a press briefing.

“We don’t negotiate a cheaper price. And, of course we will give our consent once we are offered a lower tariff,” he said.

Asked as to the impact of the price upsurge on the country’s economy, the minister noted that calculations were made to assess the possible damage, however refusing to divulge the details.
