"The Godfather" director Coppola to work on another Italian American saga

PanARMENIAN.Net - Francis Ford Coppola will return to work on an Italian American film. As AceShowbiz reveals citing The Hollywood Reporter, "The Godfather" director is confirmed to provide the script and serve behind the lens for an untitled Francis Ford Coppola project, which "will chronicle an Italian-American family and take place from the 1930s to the 1960s."

The screenplay is described as "a coming-of-age story that focuses on a boy and girl in their late teens." Jeff Sneider of The Wrap also adds that "dance will be a key element" in it. Daughter Sofia Coppola collaborators in "The Bling Ring", casting directors Courtney Bright and Nicole Daniels, are on board along with producer Fred Roos.

"The Godfather", the highest grossing film of 1972, is considered to be one of Coppola's best works. Starring Marlon Brando and Al Pacino, the tale of the Corleone family won three Academy Awards and five Golden Globes.

The legendary filmmaker once made a shocking confession regarding the mafia family series. "There should have only been one," so he opened up to TMZ in November 2011. Frank Sivero, starring as Don Vito's adviser in "The Godfather Part II", also believed that Coppola indeed made a mistake for making the sequels.

"'The Godfather Part II' was a masterpiece, the 'Godfather' part one was a masterpiece," Sivero said, before continuing saying, "It was more Hollywood, and two was more human. Three I don't think had anything to to with the novel."
