Expert forecasts no new developments in Karabakh issue in 2013![]() May 28, 2013 - 16:49 AMT PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian political expert Sergey Shakaryants forecasts no serious developments in Nagorno Karabakh issue in 2013 and 2014. Dwelling on PACE president’s and CSTO foreign ministers’ statements on Karabakh problem, the expert said they conveyed no new remarks. He noted OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs’ recent statements expressing readiness to renew talks on the level of Armenian and Azerbaijani presidents as the only development worth noticing. As for the rest f the statements, Mr. Shakaryants noted them as an attempt to change the negotiations format, linking them to Azeri presidential elections due in fall. The expert further said OSCE Minsk Group will do the utmost to retain the current format. Reiterating the necessity of the peaceful settlement of Karabakh issue, CSTO member-countries attached importance to speedy settlement of the problem, based on OSCE Minsk Group efforts, international principles and norms, UN Charter and Helsinki Final Act provisions. Grigoryan added that the situation around the world and particularly in the region is very difficult. The Armenian Defense Ministry has denied Azerbaijan's accusations of violating the ceasefire. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan took to social media to thank his Lithuanian counterpart for the contribution.
