Opinion on Absence of Relations between Armenia and Turkey Erroneous

PanARMENIAN.Net - When commenting on Ankara's attitude about Yerevan's proposal not to use the Kars-Gyumri railway for the transportation of Turkish goods and not to collect payment for the transportation of Turkish and Georgian cargo via the Armenian territory for some time Yigit Alpogan, the Secretary General of Turkish National Security Service stated "there is no necessity to put forth new proposals until Armenia responses to the proposal on the formation of joint commission of historians." "We cannot attend to the issue until we receive a reply to the proposal on formation of a joint commission of historians made 11 months ago," he said. It should be reminded that April 26 Armenian President Robert Kocharian replied to Recep Tayyip Erdogan's letter and proposed to form a bilateral commission for the discussion and settlement of all the problems available. Yigit Alpogan said that the opinion on the absence of any relations between Armenia and turkey is erroneous. He reminded of the Yerevan-Istanbul direct flight and of the "thousands" of Armenians working in Turkey. "We closely watch the talks on the Karabakh conflict settlement," he said noting that the current stage of the negotiations doesn't arouse Turkey's concern. He also stated that "Turkey is going to bring its approaches towards the South Caucasus in correspondence with the U.S. ones," reported Mediamax.
