Ombudsman Election in RA Parliament Unsuccessful

PanARMENIAN.Net - The Armenian parliament failed to elect the Ombudsman today. 107 deputies took part in the voting. Supreme Council NGO Chairman Ruben Torosyan nominated by the parliamentary opposition received 25 votes "for" and 69 "against". 69 deputies voted "for" and 25 "against" Rector of the State Academy of Governance Armen Harutyunyan nominated by the coalition (Republican Party of Armenia, Orinats Yerkir Party and ARF Dashnaktsutyun). According to the regulations, a nominee has to garner 79 or 3/5 of the votes.
