The collision between a packed passenger coach and a goods lorry loaded with crushed stone took place in Moscow in the early afternoon on Saturday, the emergencies ministry said. In a statement posted on its website on Saturday, July 13 afternoon, the emergencies ministry confirms that 14 people died in the accident and a further 22 have been hospitalized. “Fire-fighters and rescue teams are working at the scene,” a Moscow emergencies ministry spokesman said. Reports of the numbers of people involved vary, but according to reports in the local media the bus is thought to have been carrying over 40 people at the time of the accident. Russia’s health ministry confirmed that 22 people have been hospitalized, 16 of them are in a serious condition. The tabloid news site Lifenews has posted what it says is an eyewitness video from the scene of the crash showing a bus ripped in two and an overturned lorry.
