Yerevan transport fare increase canceled amid protests![]() PanARMENIAN.Net - Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan has denounced the transport fare increase from AMD 100 to 150. In his address to Yerevan residents, he said the decision to revise the price was one of the hardest in his career but “human lives could not be sacrificed.” “This is not a final decision but only the beginning of the process. There are lots of issues to be resolved,” Mr. Margaryan said. “I have already ordered formation of a commission that would work out mechanisms for a unified payment system,” he added. As a result of floods in Armenia’s northern Lori and Tavush provinces, 17 bridges, including five large ones, have collapsed.
