Expert: what is Iran hinting at in relations with Armenia?

PanARMENIAN.Net - Commenting on possible development of the Armenian-Iranian relations, political analyst Sergei Shakaryants found it difficult to explain what Presidents Serzh Sargsyan and Hassan Rouhani meant by saying that the relations should be brought to a new level.

According to Shakaryants, the two leaders referred to the Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement process but the discussion was not deep and no details were provided.

Besides, he reminded about reports on opening of Azerbaijani-Iranian Horadiz-Aslanduz checkpoint. “This move is a direct message to Armenia ahead of the signing of the Association agreement with the European Union, which has joined the anti-Iranian policy pursued by the United States,” Shakaryants told a PanARMENIAN.Net reporter.

He also emphasized that Tehran always acts within the scope of its interests, which are never imposed by a third party.
